Men’s College Basketball
MCLA 73, Salem State 72 – Quentin Gittens (Pittsfield) completed a perfect trip at the free throw line in the final six seconds of the game to give MCLA Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over Salem State on Wednesday night in Twohig Gymnasium. The Trailblazers improved their record to 12-10 and 6-4 in conference, while the Vikings dropped to 11-10 and 4-5. After Wednesday’s loss, Salem State will be looking to bounce back as they travel to Worcester State University to face the Lancers this Saturday, February 10th, with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
Women’s College Basketball
Salem State 75, MCLA 38 – – Abuk Teng (Manchester, N.H.) and Kylie Gates (Pembroke) combined for 41 points to give Salem State Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory on Wednesday evening in Twohig Gymnasium. The victory improved the Vikings record to 10-12 overall and 3-6 in conference while the Trailblazers dropped to 4-19 and 1-9. For the Vikings, Teng recorded a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double while Gates filled the stat sheet with 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in the victory. On the other side, Maddie Teta (Troy, NY) made her presence felt with 11 points for the Trailblazers, while Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, Mass.) led the team with 11 rebounds. Salem State will now embark on a two-game road trip, beginning this Saturday, February 10th, when they take on conference foe, Worcester State University. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
