North Shore Community College (NSCC) presents the 49th Forum On Tolerance – Hope, Healing and Combating Antisemitism: The Aftermath of the Tree of Life. The forum, which Is FREE and open to the public, will be held on January 24, 2024, 6-8 p.m. at NSCC’s Lynn Campus, 300 Broad Street or via Zoom. On October 27, 2018, an armed American white nationalist killed 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA. The tragic killings carried out at Tree of Life were reported on by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and North Shore native, David Shribman. In his keynote address, David Shribman will discuss his experience covering this tragedy and how reflecting upon it might lead to hope, healing, and combating antisemitism. This Forum is dedicated to the memory of longtime Forum on Tolerance Committee Member, educator, and mentor to David Shribman, Harvey Michaels.

Larry McIntire IAABO Board 130 Classic set for February 18-19 at Marblehead High
The 13th Larry McIntire IAABO Board 130 Classic
The tournament, which is named for the former Big East referee and longtime assigner for several high school leagues and the MIAA tournament, returns to Marblehead for the third year.
The girls bracket is arguably the most competitive in tournament history and includes Masconomet (with McIntire’s granddaughter, Riley Bovardi, on the roster), Reading, Peabody and North Andover.
The Marblehead boys will be looking to defend their title in a field that includes Bishop Fenwick, Gloucester and Bedford.
Two boys players and two girls players will receive a $1,000 scholarship presented by IAABO Board 130 and the McIntire Family. Since its inception in 2011, the tournament has raised more than $45,000 for scholarships and Officials vs. Cancer, an initiative that started in 2008 and has raised more than $2.5 million for the American Cancer Society.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Only MIAA passes will be accepted.
