Gloucester Fire Department Extinguishes Working Fire- Chief Eric Smith on Today’s Fire and Winter Safety

GLOUCESTER — Fire Chief Eric Smith reports that Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a working fire at a home on Atlantic Road on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, at approximately 1 p.m., the Gloucester Fire Department was notified of an outside fire involving a motorcycle next to a building at 1-3 Atlantic Road.

Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a 1 1/2-story, 2-family home, with fire extending to the building.

Companies quickly knocked down the fire and prevented further extension to the building.

There were no reported injuries. Two residents were displaced.

Beauport EMS provided EMS standby coverage at the scene, and Rockport firefighters covered Gloucester’s fire headquarters.

“I’m grateful to the companies that responded quickly to this fire and knocked it down before it could extend to the building more,” said Chief Smith. “A quick response helped us contain this fire and the damage that it caused.”
