Update from Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s Office – On Tuesday evening at approximately 5:00pm, Lawrence Police responded to a report of an altercation at McDonald’s located at 50 Broadway. Upon arrival the responding units located 32-year-old Kendrick Marcus Brown suffering from an apparent stab wound.  He was treated on scene by members of the Lawrence Police Department and transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital where he died from his injuries. Authorities arrested Marcos A. Muniz, 47 and have charged him with Murder.  He is expected to be arraigned this morning at Lawrence District Court.

Town of Essex – Open Burning in Massachusetts is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and enforced by the Essex Fire Department. Open burning season runs from Jan 15th – May 1st. A valid permit obtained from the local fire department is required. The Fire Chief reserves the right to deny or cancel open burning on any day due to weather or environmental conditions.

Burning permit for a homeowner is $20.00, Seniors age 60 and over are $10.00.

We offer and encourage on-line burning permits purchase and daily permit activation.

For anyone without access to a computer, in-person permits will be sold during regular buisness hours.
