SALEM (Podcast) State Representative Manny Cruz (7th Essex District / Salem) joins MSO News to provide updates from the State House on the supplemental budget and his sponsored legislation. The interview spans many different issues as well such as transportation, health care, development, and even Salem High’s appearance in the MIAA D6 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium. One of the many topics discussed in the podcast is a proposed South Salem MBTA train station to serve both the North Shore Medical Center and Salem State University. Cruz will be having his final “office hours” for 2023 on 12/18 at the Community Life Center in Salem from 9:30 to 11 with refreshments, a great opportunity to check in with Rep. Cruz.

Rep. Manny Cruz – It was a great pleasure to officially light the Menorah in Salem to celebrate Hanukkah along side our Jewish friends and neighbors. Grateful to all the city leaders, and members of our community who were in attendance. I want to wish all my Jewish friends, neighbors, and constituents a Happy Hanukkah. May the festival of lights bring you great joy, restoration, peace and be filled with the warm embrace of your loved ones.
Last month I joined the Salem Family Health Center to celebrate the launch of their capital campaign to build a new Salem Family Health Center in our Downtown. I was proud to work with @SenJoanLovely@RepDanCahill to secure $2.5 million in the state budget to help get this project off the ground. As a former patient, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that the health centers had on residents in our city and region. I brought a very special patient with me to the Salem Family Health Center capital campaign launch…my beloved mom. I shared with folks her lived experience, and why she continues to love getting her care at the Salem Family Health Center. My mother always leaves the health center feeling respected, welcomed, and begs of all its within walking distance. Centering the dignity, respect, and needs of patients is an essential part of the mission and values of the Salem Family Health Center. Our patients at the Salem Family Health Center deserve a build that matches the high-quality care they are receiving and I look forward to working with to continue to support this incredible project. I encourage everyone to follow the capital campaign and please consider supporting it by donating.
On the Issues – Thank you @RonMariano@RepMichlewitz for holding the line on protecting our vulnerable families experiencing homelessness and for your embrace of our responsibility to ALL. Your principled leadership during both the migrant and housing crisis in the face of GOP obstructionism is admirable. History will remember the MassGOPs desire to obstruct and our urgency to deliver needed and humane resources that will keep ALL families safe during the winter and beyond.
Salem High Football – Without question these young men left it all on the field. As we wrestle with t disappointment of a tough loss, I know that our entire community is still beaming with pride at what our Salem High Football team was able to accomplish this season. Thank you to our incredible student athletes for the amazing journey you took ALL of Salem on . Congratulations to the Fair Haven Blue Devils on a hard fought victory.
Happy Thanksgiving – We unplugged yesterday like families across the country for Thanksgiving. The joys of food, great company, and quality time with our growing family. It was our first Thanksgiving since Ezra joined our family. The joys of Ivy playing with her cousins, and abundant laughter in every room. The memories of yesterday will live forever in our hearts. We may not have grabbed a family photo but one of our cousins did grab this hilarious photo of me chowing down on a turkey leg. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. From the Cruz family to yours!
