GEORGETOWN — Chief Matt McKay has announced that Santa Claus will be visiting town next week for the Georgetown Fire Department’s 28th annual Santa Tour.
WHEN:
Sunday, Dec. 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
WHERE:
The tour will start on North Street at the Byfield line, and head to Web Road before winding through most of the town. Click here to view the parade route and schedule, as well as a list of streets that will not be visited.
Information about how to monitor the progress of the parade will be posted live to the internet as the parade is ongoing. Residents can follow Santa’s location throughout the day by clicking here.
WHAT:
Santa has visited Georgetown since the mid-1990s accompanied by Georgetown Fire Department vehicles and as he greets children and their parents.
The department and Santa will cover over 65 miles of roads in Georgetown during the day, collecting toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program as they go. More than 70 volunteers will be out to help collect, sort and pack toys. In past years, the department has collected more than 3,500 toys each year for Toys for Tots via the parade, making the GTFD the largest donator of toys in Essex County, and they hope to exceed that this year.
Residents can hand their new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots to collection volunteers who will be traveling with Santa.

Sponsors of this year’s tour are Freedom Pest Control, Georgetown Barbershop, Levia, Georgetown Cafe, G. Mello Disposal, The Morrison Family, and Trombley Towing and Automotive.
“Each year this event brings those of us at the Georgetown Fire Department tremendous joy and good cheer,” said Chief McKay. “We get to help Santa spread Christmas cheer throughout town, while also collecting toys for needy children and the Toys for Tots program. What a great combination!”
