GLOUCESTER – The Gloucester Fishermen (5-3) have qualified for the D5 MIAA Football Tournament by overcoming a rough patch in the middle of the season that had them lose consecutive games by a combined score of 75-6. That, plus injuries, was less then ideal. But, the Fishermen rebounded nicely, winning the next two out of three (including a good showing in a loss to Peabody), allowing coach Dan O’Connor to get his team back into the playoffs after a bit of a drought.
The number 16-seed Fishermen travel to Hanover (8-0), the number 1 seed in D5 for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday.
