North Shore Community College – Lynn Resident, Nadira McDonald, Named Assistant Dean of Postsecondary Transition Programs

DANVERS – North Shore Community College (NSCC) has named Nadira McDonald as its new Assistant Dean of Postsecondary Transition Programs.  Prior to this position, McDonald was NSCC’s Executive Director of K12 Partnerships.

In her new role, McDonald will support the efforts of the Dean of Postsecondary Transition Programs and NSCC to advance the building of Early College, dual enrollment, Gateway to College, and TRIO Programs (Upward Bound, Talent Search, Economic Opportunity Center) and strengthen college readiness programming with high school districts and community-based organizations. In addition, she will collaborate with other NSCC components to develop strategies that will improve access and transition to college, college readiness, and success in higher education and careers.

McDonald has 20+ years of experience in education and proven track record of successful outcomes working with students from diverse backgrounds in various educational settings including K12 and higher education.

“I believe in the power of higher education as a vehicle to socioeconomic mobility for disenfranchised communities. I love the space that Early College and pre-college programs such as TRIO occupy,” said McDonald.  “I’m also a proponent of K-14/16 alignment as a means to ease the transition to college and eliminate barriers to student academic achievement. It brings multiple stakeholders to the table and forces cross institutional, cross departmental conversations that are needed for intentional collaboration to move the needle forward. I am grateful for the opportunity and excited for the work ahead.”

A resident of Lynn, McDonald holds a B.S. from UMass Amherst and a M.Ed. from Boston University.
