THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The Endicott football team defeated Maritime (N.Y.), 27-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field.
Anthony Caggianelli (Pelham, N.H.) scored a pair of two-yard rushing touchdowns in the first quarter (14:40, 7:25) and the Gulls never looked back in the contest.
Ryan Smith (Glastonbury, Conn.) converted two field goals (2Q, :07, 28-yards, 17-0 | 3Q, 4:58, 38-yards, 27-0), while Jacob Ward (Coventry, R.I.) hauled in his first career touchdown in the third quarter (9:26, 6-yards, 24-0) to account for the rest of the scoring.
Defensively, Endicott held the Privateers to season-lows in total offense (163 yards), passing yards (72), rushing yards (91), and first downs (11).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today’s matchup was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
- Jackson DeAngelo (North Reading) paced the Gulls with a season-high 10 tackles.
- Colin Campbell (Howell, N.J.) finished second on the team in tackles (7), while tying his career-high for pass breakups with two (game-high).
- Maritime (N.Y.) was held under 100 yards rushing for the first time since September 24, 2002 (42 yards vs. William Paterson).
