Salem State Names Ryan Leahy Interim Softball Coach

SALEM – Salem State has named assistant softball coach Ryan Leahy as interim head coach following the departure of Isabella Russo after two seasons. Leahy will fill the role during the transition as a search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Leahy has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Salem State and is the owner and founder of RES Angels Softball Club and Recruiting Edge Baseball and has previously served as an assistant baseball coach at St. John’s Prep in Danvers and at the University of Pittsburgh.

Leahy will oversee recruiting and will coordinate off-season workouts as well as plan, organize and prepare the softball program for the upcoming season.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the program as interim head softball coach after being an assistant under coach Russo. I learned a lot from coach Russo and I’m very thankful for her. I plan to continue to build upon the culture we started to build together two years ago and am fired up to see our 2024 returners and new recruits get together in the fall. I look forward to working with our student-athletes and helping them develop both on the field and in the classroom.”

Welcome Coach Leahy
