Prior to the new school sports season, we are reposting Coaches’ Profiles for 2023 with north shore football coaches. In these interviews the coaches share memories from the days as players and reflect on the events and people that have shaped them as coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18).
From Matt Williams, Salem News
A born coach, there’s almost no sport Bettencourt hasn’t taught in Peabody.
He’s been the high school’s head football coach since 2013, has won state championships in both Little League softball and CYO basketball with his daughters (Isabel, Abby and Lizzy) and coached his son, Mark Jr. to a state Little League championship last summer for Peabody West.
And, he’s collected more that 250 wins as Peabody High School’s baseball coach!
PEABODY – The Peabody High School varsity football coach is another in a long line of intelligent, talented student-athletes named Bettencourt who have worn the Tanners uniforms.
In this Coach’s Profile, Mark Bettencourt reflects on his participation in sports over the years from grade school through Boston College; speaks with pride about the family legacy; and professes his love for Peabody, the high school, his student-athletes, and sports in general.
