Cape Ann Museum – The Moorland Hotel opened in 1897 on Bass Rocks, joining Gloucester’s booming tourist industry in the late 1800s. The Moorland was one of the few Gloucester resort hotels to survive the Great Depression & World War II, but it was destroyed by a fire on October 29th, 1958.
