BEVERLY – On Thursday morning, Beverly officers arrested Alexander James Bonatt, 54 of 12 Candlewood Lane, South Dennis. Bonatt is charged with vandalism to property, breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, and larceny over $1200. The charges stem after Officers responded to 39 Hale Street (Hale Farm) on a report of a past break in.
At approximately 9:45am an employee contacted the police to report seeing a man take off from the building with a Target bag full of items while wearing what the employee described as a “Historic Beverly” hat which are sold in the gift shop of Hale Farm. During the officer’s search of the building, officers observed a broken pane of glass in the rear entrance, as well as a second broken pane of glass and a lock which was broken from the hinge.
The employee had taken photos of the man as he took off on foot after she asked him if she could help him. After giving out a description of the man, an officer from the departments Community Impact Unit observed a male party who matched the description given. The male identified as Bonatt was found to be in possession of a Target bag containing several bottles of wine, and 2 laptop computers which were confirmed by the employee of Hale Farm to have been taken. Bonatt was taken into custody within 15 minutes of officers responding to the incident.
