Update on the North Shore Greenhead Fly Program

In 2022, the City of Gloucester contracted with the Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control & Wetlands Management District to participate in the North Shore Greenhead Fly Control Project. The Northeast MA Mosquito Control deployed 20 greenhead traps in the summer of 2022.

On June 2, 2023 Northeast MA Mosquito Control deployed 58 greenhead traps on the salt marshes of the City. This is 38 more than the 20 deployed in the first year. Locations are subject to change due to marsh conditions, tide height, and safe access.
