MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA – According to Manchester-Essex Schools Superintendent Pam Beaudoin, Julie Sgroi has accepted the position of Principal at Manchester Essex Regional High School.
“Julie’s experience is impressive. She has a proven track record of acting in the best interest of students, as she creates strong relationships through her leadership style,” Superintendent Beaudoin said. “She comes from an extensive educational and administrative background. I am excited to welcome her and watch her shape the future of our school.”
Sgroi holds a Bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College in Spanish with a minor in Education. She pursued post-graduate work at the University of LaVerne in California with an Education major, and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Salem State College.
Sgroi started her educational career in 2000, and has advanced to positions of increasing responsibilities.
She has worked as a Spanish teacher at both Woburn High School and Lynnfield High School, and directed the after-school program at Hampton Academy in Hampton, New Hampshire. While in Lynnfield she also served as department chair for five years.
She is currently serving as Assistant Principal at Danvers High School, and also has worked as Assistant Principal at Holten Richmond Middle School in Danvers, where she established community partnerships, implemented COVID-19 protocols, and oversaw the alternative education program.
Sgroi will bring to MERSD a demonstrated understanding of instructional practice as well as a student-centered philosophy, strong communication skills, high energy, and a collaborative style.
“I am excited about this opportunity. It has been a pleasure getting to know the faculty, staff, and students whose pride for the school community is evident from the time I’ve already been able to spend with them,” Sgroi said. “I look forward to making more connections with the community and being part of such a great team!”
As part of the transition, Sgroi will form an entry plan that will be shared with the MERSD community, and will include meetings with stakeholder groups in the summer and fall.
