Newbury Fire Department Responds to Two-Alarm House Fire

NEWBURY — Chief Douglas Janvrin reports that the Newbury Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire in a home on Low Street on Friday.

On Friday, Nov. 25, at 11:19 a.m., the Newbury Fire Department received reports of a structure fire in a single-family home at 16 Low St.

The first arriving company found heavy fire on an enclosed porch that was spreading rapidly. Crews made a quick attack on the fire.

A company from the Rowley Fire Department rescued a dog that was in the home and provided first aid to the family pet at the scene. The dog was transported to Newbury Animal Hospital.

Crews needed about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or those inside the home. The family that lives in the home will be displaced.

Firefighters from Rowley, Newburyport, Salisbury, as well as Cataldo Ambulance provided mutual aid the scene. Firefighters from West Newbury, Amesbury and Georgetown covered Newbury stations.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation by the Newbury Fire Department, with assistance from the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office. Newbury Fire Department Responds to Two-Alarm House Fire
