Girls Soccer – Hamilton-Wenham 3, Ipswich 1 (Report from General’s coach Nancy Waddell)

The Tigers held off the Generals until the second half.  Sophomore forward Annie Moynihan scored five minutes in on a great individual play, dribbling through the defense before blasting home the first goal.  The Generals kept the pressure on and the Tigers weathered many shots before senior defender Chloe Gern put away the second goal off a shot from well outside the penalty box.  The goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Georgia Wilson with fifteen minutes left in the game.  Two minutes later, Ipswich capitalized on the Generals defensive breakdown to make it 2-1.  With under five minutes to go, senior midfielder Kaitlyn Menegoni took a pass from sophomore forward Tessa Hunt and blasted it home from outside the penalty box.
The Generals are now 7-5 and face Manchester-Essex on Monday.
