Afternoon Update – Endicott Players Earn League Honors This Week

BEVERLY  Endicott senior running back Tyler Bridge (Wells, Maine) and senior defensive back Tyler Davis (Bethel, Conn.) and freshman defensive back Joe Tirrell (Franklin, Mass.) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week, and Defensive Rookie of the week, respectively, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Bridge guided Endicott offensively this week as Endicott picked up a 20-0 win over Husson to open CCC play. The Gulls running back rushed 15 times for 104 yards and two scores. His two touchdown scampers bookended the scoring for Endicott with the first coming on a 33-yard run to close out the Gulls’ first offensive possession. He then punched home a 14-yard rush as time winded down in the fourth quarter. It was Bridge’s second-straight game with two touchdowns.

Davis was part of an Endicott defensive unit that held Husson scoreless in a 20-0 victory to open CCC play. Davis recorded a team-high seven tackles (six solo) and also recorded two turnovers. He forced a fumble and picked off a pass with both coming in the fourth quarter as the Gulls locked up their third shutout of the season.

Tirrell helped Endicott earn its third shutout of the season by defeating Husson 20-0 in both teams’ conference opener on Saturday (Oct. 1). Tirrell recorded a career-high six tackles (three solo) and his second-ever sack for the Gulls in the victory. One of Tirrell’s tackles came in the third quarter as he stalled the Eagles on a fourth-and-1 on the Gulls 14-yard line. The fourth-down stop was crucial as Endicott only led 13-0 at the time.

This is the first career honor for both Bridge and Davis.

This is the third career honor for Tirrell.
