Town of Wenham Invites Residents to Attend Virtual Public Hearing for Roadway Redesign Project

WENHAM — The Town of Wenham would like invite residents to virtual public hearing for a roadway redesign project involving Main Street.

The live virtual design public hearing will be hosted by MassDOT on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

MassDOT will present the new design proposal for Main Street (Route 1A) roadway, and gather feedback from community members, regarding improvements that will be made to Main Street from Fairview Avenue to the Arbor Street intersection.

The modern design will consist of adding new sidewalks and repairing existing sidewalks along Main Street, and a designated bike lane will be added to both sides of the road. Fully functional and interconnected traffic signals are expected to be installed at the Cherry Street and Arbor Street intersections.

Additionally, new roadway pavement markings with designated turn lanes will be added to all intersections. The project will also include all new traffic signs.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to discuss the proposed improvements.

“We are excited to partner with MassDOT on this re-design project,” said Town Administrator Poulos. “The construction will result in easily accessible walkways and bike lanes for our residents. I encourage residents to attend and provide feedback.”

Residents who wish to attend the meeting should visit the MassDOT website here.
