SAUGUS — Chief Michael Ricciardelli and the Saugus Police Department report that a 78-year-old Saugus man who was missing for several hours on Wednesday was found safe in Somerville.
On Tuesday, July 27, at approximately 2 p.m., Saugus Police received a report that a 78-year-old Saugus man was missing.
Saugus Police began an immediate search, and were assisted by Massachusetts State Police, the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, Revere Police and Somerville Police.
The 78-year-old was located in Somerville about 5 p.m. He was not injured, and was reunited with his family.
“I want to thank community members, Somerville Police, Revere Police, Massachusetts State Police and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council for their assistance,” said Chief Ricciardelli. “We are pleased we were able to locate this individual thanks to cooperation with our law enforcement partners and the public.”

SAUGUS — Chief Michael Ricciardelli and the Saugus Police Department are asking for the community’s assistance as they search for a missing senior with dementia.
On Tuesday, July 27, at approximately 2 p.m., Saugus Police received a report that Thai Tran, 78, of Saugus, was missing. He was last seen in the area of Eastern Avenue, near his home, a short time earlier.
Saugus Police began an immediate search of the area, which includes a marshland, and are being assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Airwing and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.
Saugus Police have developed information that indicates Tran may have traveled to Revere and then taken a cab to Somerville. Residents in those communities are being asked to keep an eye out for Tran. Saugus Police are working in coordination with Revere and Somerville Police.
