A jury found a New Hampshire man guilty of first-degree murder this morning in connection with the shooting death of a Beverly man in March of 2020. Salem Superior Court Judge Diane Freniere imposed the mandatory life without parole sentence this afternoon following statements from the victim’s family.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Kelleen Forlizzi introduced evidence that proved that Bruce Gunn, 66, shot and killed Donald Fogg, 50, in his Beverly home on March 13, 2020. Gunn borrowed a gun from a friend and arranged to purchase marijuana from Fogg, with the intention of robbing him. On March 13, 2020, the defendant went to Fogg’s home at 10 Summer Street in Beverly. The defendant shot him three times the back after he apparently opened his safe that contained large quantities of marijuana and cash.
ADA Forlizzi was assisted at trial by ADA Mary Eileen Spano and Victim Witness Advocate Rocky Pena. She thanked Essex State Police detectives Josh Ulrich, Matt Murphy, Thomas Sullivan, Sgt. Robert DeMeo and Lt. John Costa; Beverly Police detectives Shawn Desmond, Thomas Nolan and Darlene Prinz; and Norfolk State Police Det. Lt. Brian Tully for their work on the investigation.
