Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Salem Police Chief Lucas Miller issued the following statement:
At approximately 5:07 pm this evening, Salem Police responded to numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired at 3 Technology Way in Salem. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 33-year old woman suffering from gunshot wound(s) and a 55-year old male deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman was transported to Salem Hospital and then med-flighted to a Boston hospital with life threatening injuries.
The female, who works at a manufacturing facility at Technology Way, and the male are believed to be known to one another, however, the exact nature of the relationship is not known at this time. Investigators also believe both individuals are New Hampshire residents.
The matter remains under investigation by the Essex District Attorney’s Office, the Salem Police and the Essex State Police Detective Unit.
