MSP Investigating Fatal Crash, Rt. 495, Tewksbury

At 2:19 a.m. Troopers from the State Police-Concord Barracks responded to a rollover crash on Route 495 north, south of Route 38, in Tewksbury. The crash resulted in the fatality of a young adult male.
Responding Troopers, along with Tewksbury Police Officers who also responded, determined the victim had been ejected in the crash. Tewksbury Firefighters and EMS performed attempted life-saving measures on scene. The victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was southbound on 495 when, for reasons still to be determined, the operator lost control and the vehicle rolled over and came to rest on the northbound side. At this time northbound lanes have been opened and two southbound lanes have been closed to accommodate the ongoing crash reconstruction.

The victim’s identity and the make and model of the vehicle are not being released at this time as we are in the process of making next-of-kin notifications.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachushetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted on-scene by Tewksbury Police, the Tewksbury Fire Department, and EMS.
