(Audio) Post-game with Marblehead High School baseball coach Mike Giardi following 3-1 Loss to Danvers

From Marblehad High School baseball coach Mike Giardi:

A great day for baseball and a great game to watch.  Unfortunately for the Magicians of Marblehead it wasn’t so great as they ran in Joe Zamejtis of Danvers. Zamjetis had a CG with 15 K, 4 Hits allowed, 1 BB and 1 unearned run.

The Magicians did well on the mound also – but just not quite enough.  The Magicians three pitchers combined for 7 innings, giving up 5 Hits, 5 BB and 3 unearned runs themselves.  Ben Weed went 3.2 and took the loss.  Bjorn Pluss and James Doody each went 1.2 to close it out.

Hits were at premium – Marblehead had 4 and Danvers had 5  Danvers took advantage when an error a couple of walks led to bases loaded.  A single by  Caleb White scored one but Godot Gaskins threw out the go ahead run.  Joe Zamejtis decided to do it all driving in the next run with a single to run and Marblehead then wild pitched in the next run.

For the Magicians, Liam McIlroy and Matty Titus each had two hits – which accounted for all of the Magicians hits as Joe Zamejtis was just on his game on the mound.

A great pitching performance for Danvers.

Danvers moves on while Marblehead’s season comes to a close with an overall record of 13-5.
