NEW YORK – The Frates family will be at Yankee Stadium tonight when major league baseball inaugurates Lou Gehrig Day, in honor of the Yankee great first baseman who died of ALS. Pete Frates, son of John and Nancy Frates, passed away in December of 2019 at age 34, after leading a courageous campaign to promote ALS awareness through the “Ice Bucket Challenge.”
Former Beverly City Council member John Frates spoke with MSO on Tuesday about the legacy of former St. John’s Prep and Boston College standout scholar/athlete Pete Frates, and how his family continues to carry out its promise to him.
