MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead only got one hit and only one run but it was just enough to hold off Gloucester.
Senior Godot Gaskins was hit by a pitch in the 3rd inning and stole 2nd and 3rd and came home on a contact play that led to an errant throw.
Senior Captain Jacob Sherf went 6 innings giving up 0 Runs, 5 hits, 2 k’s and 2 BB’s for the win.
Gloucester had an opportunity in the top of the 7th after Marblehead mishandled a ground ball. With bases loaded, Liam McIlroy came on and got a come backer double play to end the game.
Earlier in the game, senior left fielder Andy Burke relayed a ball with McIlroy and threw a runner out at the plate.
Marblehead, now 6-2, faces Peabody at Peabody on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm.
