Gloucester Drawbridge Replacement Project: Full Channel Closure and Height Restriction

The MBTA will install the movable drawbridge span over the Annisquam River navigation channel in early June. During this work, the channel under the drawbridge will be closed to all vessel traffic from 6:00 AM on Monday, June 7, through 6:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9

Additionally, a vessel height restriction will be in place from 6:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9 through 4:00 PM Friday, June 11. The height restriction is required to install and test electrical components for the new moveable span. Vessels able to transit without a bridge opening will be able to do so.

More information on this closure can be found in the United States Coast Guard Notice to Mariners.

Mariners can also contact the  Harbormaster via VHF CH 16/13. Questions may be directed to Matt Moorehouse, MBTA Resident Engineer, at (617) 839-8075, Mike Keville, J.F. White Contracting at (617) 908-2405 or Tim Chase, Sector Boston Waterways Management at (617) 447-1620. Mariners are advised to plan accordingly.
