Troopers Respond to Pedestrian Struck On Route 1 in Saugus

Tuesday night around 10:20 p.m. Troopers from the Danvers State Police Barracks received reports of a pedestrian that was struck on Route 1 Northbound at Broadway (Route 99) in Saugus. Saugus Police, Saugus Fire and EMS, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation responded to the scene as well.

The operator of a 2018 Alfa Romeo SUV, a 45 year old man from Lynnfield, remained on scene. The operator of the SUV was uninjured, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The pedestrian was a woman who has yet to be identified. The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, as well as Crime Scene Services were called to the scene to investigate.

The right two lanes of Route 1 northbound were closed for approximately 2 hours while Troopers and Medical Personnel secured the scene. The investigation into the crash and attempts to identify the woman are ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
