GLOUCESTER — Public Health Director Karin Carroll is pleased to share that the Gloucester Health Department has partnered with the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) to launch a call line to help residents in need of transportation to and from a vaccination appointment. |
The line is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is being staffed by Gloucester area volunteers. Callers will be connected to a live person, not an automated menu. To contact the call line, call 978-515-5255. |
Volunteers are available to help members of the community with the following: |
- Find transportation for those who need it to get to and from their appointment(s). This includes accessing resources such as:
- CATA Van Service (FREE): 978-283-7916
- Senior Care, Inc (Residents 60+): 978-281-1750
- MassHealth (Free to Members and Health Safety Net-Eligible): 800-841-2900
- Beauport Ambulance: 978-281-6955
- State Homebound Vaccination Central Intake Line: 833-983-0485
- Preregistering for vaccination at a mass vaccination site. This is primarily for those without internet access, and volunteers will follow up with residents once an appointment becomes available for them. Those who do have internet will be directed to the state’s online preregistration system, which can be accessed by clicking here. Volunteers will be able to answer questions residents may have about preregistering online as well.
- Seeking out other vaccination opportunities as listed on vaxfinder.mass.gov.
- Volunteers will also be able to share general information about vaccinations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Residents are encouraged to also seek out information about COVID-19 vaccinations from reputable sources on their own, including the CDC, linked here, and the DPH, linked here.
Those who need to access support from someone who speaks languages including, Arabic (Levantine, Egyptian and Modern Standard), Bengali, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, French, French Creole, German, Greek, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Mandarin, Norwegian, Kmer, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Singaporean, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish,Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, Welsh Yiddish, and Yoruba can leave their name, phone number and spoken language with a caller, and they will receive a call back shortly thereafter from someone who will be able to help them with their questions. |
