Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Continue to Offer Pick Up and Delivery Service for High-Risk and Senior Residents

MANCHESTERBYTHESEA – As case numbers in the community continue to rise, Chief Todd Fitzgerald wishes to remind residents that Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department continues to offer pick-up and delivery services for residents.

This service is available for those who have been identified as being at a higher risk of serious health complications should they contract the COVID-19 or for those who are self-quarantined. Individuals who have been identified as being at a higher risk and advised to avoid large crowds are older adults or anyone with chronic medical conditions, like heart disease, diabetes or lung disease.

The Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department’s delivery services include the delivery of groceries, prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines and vital supplies. Officers will be unable to pay for the items, however. Items will be delivered to the front door of the home, and officers will not enter the home. Residents will be notified when the officer arrives so they can get the items immediately.

“We are glad to offer this service to those in our community who may be at high-risk of serious health complications should they contract COVID-19 or who may be self-isolating in their homes,” Chief Fitzgerald said. “Doing so helps to protect the health and safety of all Manchester-by-the-Sea residents, a goal which we remain committed to in all aspects of our work.”
