Meet Dr. Sean Bennett, Salem State University’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclustion

SALEM – Dr. Sean Bennett may be new to Salem, but he is not not new to “developing, implementing, and embedding inclusive excellence” in university endeavors revolving around diversity and inclusion, according to his Salem State biography.  Doctor Bennett is in the process of creating “leadership and innovation on projects impacting university administration, faculty, staff, and students. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University and Master of Education degrees from both the State University of New York at Brockport and Harvard University. Sean completed a doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania and most recently worked at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.”

In the interview below, Doctor Bennett talks with MSO’s Rick Moore about the “creating spaces” concept, the diversity and inclusion process at SSU, how the first several months of his tenure have gone, and what he envisions beyond the current state of emergency.
