From Lynn Police – 1’st Division officers and the Gang Unit worked together to make two arrests and recover two illegally possessed firearms in separate incidents over the weekend. One suspect did attempt to practice social distancing by running from the officers but was not successful

Status of Cases
As of 3:30 p.m. on May 8, 2020, 487 Salem residents have tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 24 Salem residents have died from the virus. Since the outbreak began, at least 122 Salem residents who had been infected by the virus have cleared their isolation period. There are currently 365 active cases. As of May 6, 2020 Salem’s case rate (988.48/100k population) was 4.4% below the state case rate (1033.83/100k population). Local demographic data as of May 8, 2020 is included below in this update.
