Man Struck and Killed by Commuter Rail Train in Rockport

ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath reports a 24-year-old man from Rockport was killed after being struck by a Commuter Rail train in Rockport this evening.

The Rockport Police Department was notified by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) at 7:38 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, that a Boston-bound train had struck an adult male near the area of Piggery Crossing.

The name of the man is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

No foul play is suspected in the incident. Authorities from the MBTA Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit responded to the scene and are investigating.
