GROVELAND — Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen and Fire Chief Robert Valentine report that Groveland Police and Fire responded to a crash early this morning where a car drove into a house.

At approximately 9:57 a.m., Groveland Police received a 911 call reporting that a car had crashed into a residence at 28 School St.

Groveland Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene and found that a Ford Explorer had driven into the side of the house.

The operator, a 19-year-old Haverhill man, was trapped inside the car when police and fire arrived on the scene.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver, the only occupant of the vehicle. He was then transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

One resident was at home at the time of the crash and treated at the scene, but declined transportation to a hospital.

The house sustained significant damage, but was not rendered structurally unstable.

The crash remains under investigation by the Groveland Police Department.

Haverhill Fire Department responded to the scene to provide mutual aid.

“The driver of the Ford Explorer was extricated within 10 minutes due to the incredible teamwork between Haverhill Rescue 1, Groveland Police led by Sgt. Riley and the Groveland Fire Department,” said Chief Valentine. “I would like to thank everyone who responded to the scene and recognize them for a job well done.”
