MALDEN  — The Endicott men’s ice hockey team defeated Tufts University, 4-2, in non-conference action on Friday night at The Valley Forum.

Tied 2-2 midway through the third period, James Winkler (York, Maine) scored a backhander on a rush from the right wing to put Endicott ahead, 3-2, at the 10:04 mark and the Gulls held on the rest of the way.

Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.) also added an empty netter at 19:59, while Campbell Balk (West Olive, Mich.) and Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) scored in the first (11:28) and second (2:43) periods, respectively, to account for the remainder of Endicott’s scoring.

In goal, Conor O’Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) made 24 saves to improve to 9-4-0 overall on the season (20-12-2 career).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott improved to 3-1-1 in the all-time series against Tufts.
  • The Gulls are 4-1-0 on the road this season.
  • Endicott has won its last two games by a 4-2 score.
