MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA – This past week, every Manchester Fire Department working group, along with our call firefighters, participated in technical rescue training.
Twice a year, we bring in outside subject matter expert Fran Clark of C & C Fire Training Consultants for formal training. This session included a review of rappelling techniques and two rescue scenarios: removing an injured worker who had fallen from one roof onto another, and reaching a construction worker experiencing a medical emergency in a confined space.
These incidents are rare, but they demand skills we must practice regularly. We thank Manchester Elementary School and the Manchester Wastewater Treatment Plant for allowing us to use their facilities for this training.
