SALEM – Zero Waste Salem’s Free Book Swap returns on Saturday, September 19, 2026, 10 AM – 1 PM at a NEW location: Horace Mann Laboratory School gym at 79 Willson Street. Attendees will find an impressive collection of books, CDs, DVDs, records, puzzles, greeting cards, and shopping bags, all free.
To donate: bring any of the above items to Horace Mann on Friday, September 18, 4 PM – 7 PM or Saturday, September 19 from 9 AM to noon. Items should be clean, dry, and mildew-free.
The following are NOT accepted and will be turned away: magazines, VHS and cassette tapes, mildewed/outdated books, encyclopedias, and textbooks, and blank or home-recorded CDs/DVDs.
In honor of Salem’s quadricentennial, this swap will feature books, puzzles, greeting cards, and music celebrating our city! Feel free to label relevant donations.
Leftover books will be donated to More Than Words.
