Essex County D.A.’s Office: Gregory and Matarazzo Arraigned in Superior Court for Saugus Armed Home Invasion

SALEM – Timothy Gregory, 55, of Boston, and Derek Matarazzo, 38, of Charlestown, were arraigned today in Essex County Superior Court on charges tied to a May 3 armed home invasion on Oakwood Avenue in Saugus, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announces. Authorities allege that Gregory and Matarazzo, wearing masks and carrying handguns, forced entry into a home and Saugus Police, who responded to a 911 call shortly after noon that day, reported that multiple shots were fired but no one was injured. A grand jury returned indictments in the case on June 3.
Appearing via Zoom before the Hon. Salim Tabit today, both Gregory and Matarazzo pleaded not guilty to home invasion, two counts of armed assault in a dwelling, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny over $1,200, and carrying a firearm without a license. Superior Court Trial Division Chief James Gubitose from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. Gregory is represented by attorney Grace Edwards, while Matarazzo is represented by attorney Joseph Smith.
Judge Tabit ordered the defendants remain held without bail, without prejudice, pending the result of a detention hearing which was scheduled for July 29.
