MIAA Spring Tournament Brackets

In high school tournament sports –

Baseball – state semifinals
St. Mary’s fell 6-5 to Milton in 8 innings yesterday.
Hamilton-Wenham blanked St. John Paull II 10-0, the Generals will take on Seekonk for the Division 4 title later this week.
Georgetown over Hopkins 6-1 to advance to the Division 5 state title game against English High later this week.
Softball – Semifinals
Georgetown takes on Hopedale today at UMass Lowell at 5 p.m.
Boys Lacrosse – State semifinals
BC High over St. John’s Prep 11-10 in overtime
Nantucket 8, Manchester-Essex 4
Ipswich forfeited their match with Cohasset. Phil Stacey is reporting today in the Salem News that his multiple sources indicate the forfeit was triggered by a violation of the MIAA’s Chemical Health Policy.
Girls Lacrosse
Ipswich will take on Sandwich later this week for the state title in Division 4, game time and site to be announced.
Boys Tennis – Semifinals
Westboro blanked Marblehead 5-0
Newburyport takes on Wayland this afternoon at St. John’s Prep (2 p.m.)
Hamilton-Wenham will meet Mystic Valley for the state title in D4 later this week.
Girls Tennis – Semifinals
Swampscott takes on Dover Sherborn in Westford today at 2 p.m.
Hamilton-Wenham meets Bromfield in Shrewsbury today at 2 p.m. This winner of this match takes on Manchester-Essex for the state D4 title later this week.
Essex Tech has announced that Anthony Silvio has been named the school’s new boys basketball coach.
The Red Sox lost 4-3 to the Rays last night. The series concludes this afternoon in Florida.
ME Athletics
Girls Tennis: FINAL – The Hornets defeat Ipswich and advance to the MIAA D4 State Championship for the second year in a row! They will face the winner of Hamilton-Wenham and Bromfield on Saturday, June 13 at MIT. Time TBA. Way to go, Hornets!
