BOSTON – Governor Maura Healey has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings beginning immediately today in honor and remembrance of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., who was killed in the line of duty overnight.
“I’m heartbroken to learn of the death of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. – a veteran, a father of two and a third generation firefighter,” said Governor Healey. “His heroic actions last night saved the lives of five individuals, in addition to the countless people he rescued throughout the course of his distinguished career. His death serves as a reminder of the dangers firefighters face every day when they put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. My heart goes out to his family and his brothers and sisters in the Boston Fire Department. On this tragic day and every day, I want all of our Massachusetts firefighters and their loved ones to know that we stand with you, and we are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.”
The flag lowering order will remain in effect until sunset on the day of interment and will be observed simultaneously with the ongoing order for former Congressman Barney Frank and tomorrow’s special order for Memorial Day.
