SALEM – Hernan Marrero, 50, of Roslindale has been identified by the Essex County District Attorney as the wrong-way driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision that resulted in the death of Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor. Marrero did not survive the crash.
Marrero’s vehicle was travelling South on Route 1 North in Lynnfield in the early morning hours of May 6 when it struck Trainor’s cruiser.
The case remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Troop A Detectives, Crime Scene Services Section, State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
