The City of Salem has launched a relief effort for two households, one with young children, displaced by a fire on Broad Street in Salem last night. Donations of funds are now being collected to support these households as they begin to recover from the fire. In lieu of donating items, those who would like to help the victims recover are encouraged to donate money, so individuals have the most flexibility in rebuilding their lives. Gift cards in even amounts for groceries, home goods, and personal care products/toiletries are accepted. If you know of available short-term accommodations or rentals for a single adult man and a cat, please contact jmota@salem.com and we will share the information with the displaced person in need.
