State House Tour, selfies, and some autographs for the next generation of civic leaders! Thrilled to join @SenJoanLovely to host my Alma mater r a tour and a town hall-style Q&A! Our students represented Salem so well, and asked thoughtful questions about the role the state plays with respect to the housing crisis, immigration enforcement & civil rights, bullying, homelessness, and food insecurity. I also got some really silly questions about what’s my go-to fast food order and got challenged to a 1 v1 basketball game . I always enjoy the opportunity to engage with our students and share my civic journey, which began at Collins Middle School with mentors & role models like Mr. Brad Maloon, who encouraged me to run for class senate and trained me in peer mediation. It’s always humbling to see our kids light up when they hear about their own civic power and ability to shape their experiences in the community. I can’t wait to see all that our Sharks will accomplish now and in the future.
