LAWRENCE – In Essex County Superior Court in Lawrence today, Braudys Nunez, 31, of Peabody, was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in state prison to be followed by three years of probation on charges tied to a December 2023 armed assault and home invasion on Bayview Avenue in Lynn, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker confirms. In January, an Essex County jury found Nunez guilty of home invasion and four counts of armed assault in a dwelling with a firearm. Nunez received the 10-15-year prison sentence for the armed assault charges and the three-year probation sentence, which will run from and after his incarceration, for the home invasion.
Assistant District Attorney Anne Marie Gochis prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. Nunez was represented by defense attorney Ian Thomas Davis. The Hon. Jeffrey Karp presided over the trial and handed down the sentence at today’s hearing. Judge Karp commended the Lynn Police Department for their bravery, restraint, and courage in diffusing the dangerous situation while the defendant was in the house, at which four individuals resided.
