In boys high school basketball from last night, Marblehead beat Gloucester 92-53. Finn Barron led the Magicians with 33 points, Cam Weaver added 22. Marblehead will play Sunday as they will host the IAABO Board 130 tournament. Salem topped Masconomet 47-37, the Witches snapped Masco’s two year home court unbeaten streak. Both teams are having great seasons. Masconomet (15-2), – Salem (16-2); Swampscott beat Danvers 76-50…Conner Chiarello led the Big Blue with 26 points, Teddy O’Neil added 22. Other scores…Saugus 64, Peabody 55; North Reading 48, Hamilton-Wenham 45; Ipswich 63, Pentucket 42

In girls basketball Danvers beat Swampscott 37-31, The Falcons are now 17-1 as they got 10 points each from Anjie Djoko and Annabel Boyd while Kendall Murphy knocked down a pair of big “3s” to help pull off a tough road win.

The Salem News today has posted the area’s top girls basketball scoring leaders. The top three are: Jordan Perdue-DelTorchio of Gloucester averaging 22.7 points per game, followed by Anna Kanders of Swampscott 19.1 points per game, and Samia Lalikos of Masconomet at 17.3.

Newburyport boys hockey coach Paul Yameen is racking up some big numbers. This week the Clippers beat Lynnfield 6-3, that was Yameen’s 500th game behind the bench for Newburyport and his 275th win at the school in 23 seasons. His Clippers will host tough division one St. John’s Prep tomorrow at noon at the Graf Rink in Newburyport.

In pro sports, the Celtics are off for the all-star break. Jaylen Brown will be representing the Celtics at the all star game on Sunday. The NHL is off for the Olympics.
