City of Salem to host Living Green Expo Today

SALEM – Mayor Dominick Pangallo and the City of Salem are hosting a Living Green Expo on Saturday, May 10th, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Old Town Hall and Derby Square.  Learn how to green your home, your business, and your wallet at Salem’s third annual Living Green Expo. Local nonprofits, businesses, and City staff will be on hand to show you the (recycled) ropes.

“I am grateful to the City of Salem Sustainability & Resiliency Department, which works hard on a wide variety of efforts related to everything from electric vehicle charging, clean energy, addressing climate vulnerabilities, and so much more,”  said Mayor Pangallo, “Salem residents can also help the City’s efforts, and I invite all members of the community to learn about specific actions they can take at the Living Green Expo. Many exhibitors will have interactive activities for kids and families. Addressing the challenge of Climate Change is a collective responsibility that requires collective action from the whole community.  The Living Green Expo is a great way for residents and visitors to Salem to learn more about organizations and companies helping to move us to a more sustainable future and ways that community members might reduce their own environmental impact.”

Find out how the South Essex Sewerage District uses its magnetic mixer – this is an exciting opportunity for both kids and adults!  Get up close to vernal pool critters with the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team, and check out the Police Department’s Ford F150 Lightning, as well as the conventionally kibble-powered Salem Police Department Officer Derby the Community Resource Dog.

Be sure to stop by the Sustainability & Resiliency Department’s table for trivia and raffles.
