BEVERLY — Superintendent Suzanne Charochak and Principal Mark Thomas share that Beverly High School recently hosted about 35 students from Kumamoto High School in Japan.
On Monday, March 25, approximately 35 Japanese students from Kumamoto High School visited Beverly High School for the day to learn about life in the American education system.
To kick off the day, Beverly and Kumamoto students gathered for an assembly, where BHS students gave a presentation on a day in the life of a student at BHS.
Japanese students were then paired with a Beverly student, accompanying them to classes and shadowing them during daily school activities.
Kumamoto High School visitors were given the floor to present a day in the life of a Kumamoto student to round off the day. Both presentations highlighted the communities in which the students live, giving everyone in attendance insight into various perspectives and cultures.
This was the second year Kumamoto students have visited Beverly High School and the District hopes to continue this partnership for years to come.
“For the past two years, we have had the wonderful opportunity to learn and grow from the experiences of a different culture thanks to our friends at Kumamoto High School,” said Principal Mark Thomas. “We thank them for coming to visit us, and we look forward to hosting more students in the future!”
