Murder Suspect in Salem Turns Himself in; Investigation of Tuesday Homicide Underway

SALEM – The Essex D.A.’s Office of Jonathan Blodgett is advising that Douglas STEEVES, 50, will be arraigned in Salem District Court today for murder in connection with the strangulation of his 48-year-old estranged wife.  The suspect turned himself into the Salem Police at approximately 3:40 am.  Police responded to her home at 11 Chandler Street in Salem and transported her to Salem Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Mr. Steeves is believed to be homeless.
