MIAA WINTER POWER RANKINGS

Salem High’s Elian Rodriguez became a 1,000 point scorer for the Witches as they beat Saugus 77-48 last night. Rodriguez scored 27 points in the game and Salem is now 9-1 on the season. In other games, Swampscott 72, Gloucester 32 as the Big Blue upped their record to 10-1 on the season. Beverly topped Peabody 92-43 behind Jacob Klass (20 points) and Eli Landman (18 points)
The Newburyport boys basketball is off to a 10-0 start this season. Last night the Clippers beat Manchester-Essex 90-80. The team moved from division 3 to division 2 this season and is currently ranked #10 in the MIAA Power Rankings.
The Newburyport girls hoop team is 9-3 on the season; they have won 7 straight games and on Friday they host Lynnfield.
The Peabody girls basketball team was a 57-53 winner over Beverly. Sophia Cohen led the Tanners with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
In men’s college basketball, Endicott, ranked 17th in the nation, beat Curry 84-76. Gloucester’s Marcus Montagino scored 25 points, and Lynn’s Jeff Hill added 20 points for the Gulls, now 16-1 on the season.
In pro sports, the Bruins lost 6-2 to the Dallas Stars last night. They will host the Golden Knights tomorrow. The Celtics, off last night, host the Pacers tonight. The Patriots travel to Denver Sunday to meet the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.
